Write Your Elected Representatives
The links below will direct you to a few Sample Letters which explain to lawmakers and other government officials the advantages of the ComingTogether Plan.
The Letters address specific topics (it is best to discuss one main issue when writing to legislators). We have made them available in several formats for you to use (by adding your own contact information and signing your name). The Email format is HTML that has been condensed in content, in order to fit most response forms offered on Congressional / State House websites.

Where to Write
The U.S. Congress has made it fairly simple to contact individual officials by mail:
U.S. Elected Officials | State Elected Officials |
---|---|
The Honorable Sen. Full Name Here United States Senate Washington DC 20510 |
The Honorable Sen. [FULL Name Here] [State name] Senate [Street address, if necessary] [State capitol] [State abbreviation] [ZIP code] The Honorable Rep.* [FULL Name Here] *or Assemblyperson or Delegate, per your State |
The Honorable Rep. Full Name Here United States House of Representatives Washington DC 20515 |
|
Write to any congressional committee:
Name of Committee Name of Committee |
|
President [Full Name Here] 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Washington, DC 20500 |
*At the State level, each state has its own state legislative structure, and some states use titles other than "senator" or "representative" for members of the legislature. To find your state officials' contact information, visit either www.govengine.com , and click on the map, or www.congress.org (go to "Officials," then "State Officials) .
For more detailed information, including the addresses to be used for writing directly
to congressional Committees or Subcommittees, see the U.S. Senate website at:
http://www.senate.gov/reference/common/faq/How_to_contact_senators.htm .
There is a "Find Your Senators" search window; or you may click on "Senators"
(it's a short list -- only two per state). Either will direct you to a page with
contact information, and most Senators now offer an email form of some kind.
The U.S. House of Representatives site is at:
http://www.house.gov
You will need your ZIP + 4 code to search for your District representative. As with
the Senate site, clicking on your congressperson's name will bring up several mailing
addresses and the list of committees he or she is involved in currently. Note: if you
go the House Directory page, there is a button for downloading a printed mailing label.
